Sunnyvale’s new City Hall is designed to create community connections and civic pride through transparency and improved access to City services in a healthy high-performance environment. At the heart of the building, the Council Chamber offers an intimate, fully accessible space for both the public and Council members. It integrates seamlessly with the natural surroundings, featuring a wood ceiling that mimics sunlight filtering through the site’s tree canopy. The central lobby boasts a curving stairway, inspiring imagination and promoting an active, healthy experience. The workspaces are designed to be calm and light-filled, with exterior terraces providing the opportunity to work in nature. The lobby’s central stairway is not just a physical structure, but a catalyst for movement and interaction, promoting health and inviting exploration, symbolizing the building’s commitment to active living.
