The Hub at Sunnydale, San Francisco

Civic Design Studio

Honorable Mention

Civic Design Studio is a team of nationally and internationally-award winning artists, designers and cultural thinkers, utilizing our future-forward skill sets to build creative community pathways in and across Bay Area cities. This project is part of a multiyear partnership that weaves together a network of partners that consists of: Mercy Housing, Sunnydale leaders and residents, and local artists connected to Sunnydale and District 10 San Francisco.

Our team curated, creative-directed, and collaborated with 8 Sunnydale-affiliated local artists in producing large scale permanent artwork for the Hub at Sunnydale. We worked closely with artists, developers, architects, residents and staff to uplift the stories and dreams from the long-embattled, resilient, and proud neighborhood. Spanning over a 2 year period of story gathering, art workshops, and building trust, it resulted in artwork that represents the collective history and culture that is rooted in the Sunnydale community.
