The Society for Experiential Graphic Design (SEGD) and Arup present a panel discussion by local artists specializing in large scale, digital art installations.

Join us for this exploration of how digital technology continues to shape the future of storytelling.

Prior to joining Float4 Nathan spent 15 years at Obscura Digital helping develop some of their most iconic architectural projections including the Guggenheim, the Sydney Opera House, the Vatican, and Art on theMART to name a few.

Nathan leads Float4’s west coast Business Development efforts and his role as a Senior Technical Consultant provides a valuable resource to both the client and internal teams to build project plans and strategic partnerships to achieve the creative vision and strategic business goals.

Robb Pope founded Digital Ambiance after 5 years of concert touring as a lighting designer and video engineer. Recognizing the growing market for innovative lighting projection and interactive installations he put together a team of artists and engineers to design and build the architectural lighting installations Digital Ambiance is now known for. Using a combination of immersive technologies, parametric design, and cutting-edge design principles Digital Ambiance is pushing the boundaries of what it means to create architectural lighting and new media installations.

Nick describes his work as “designing better spaces for humans.” With a robust roster of public art, placemaking, and tech-enabled experiences—as well as a Masters in Integrated Design, Business, and Technology—he specializes in immersive spaces that foster deeper appreciation of community, environment, and each other. His ventures have garnered press from The New York Times, Scientific American, Vox, and University of Southern California, among others.

 

PAUL CHAVEZ

Paul Chavez is an Associate at the international engineering firm Arup, where he specializes in Experience and Interaction Design. With over 30 years of experience in sensory technology design for the built environment he has designed for a wide variety of applications. He has served as the technical director for Luminex, a bi-annual community video art event in downtown Los Angeles. Additionally, his writings on occupant engagement in smart buildings to enhance performance have been featured on ArchDaily.  As an educator, Paul is a lecturer in the Design program at California State University, Long Beach, where he teaches in the graduate program for Human Experience Design & Interaction (HXDI). He has also shared his expertise as a guest lecturer at prestigious institutions like USC and SciArc.
