DESCRIPTION:In order to be in the top 1% of candidates\, you must do what the other 99% won’t. This is especially true in the current job market. In this session\, Kathy will walk you through exactly how she was able to land her dream job in product design. By listening to her personal story\, you’ll learn all the tips and tricks to put you in the top 1%. \nEvent format : A 45-minute virtual session. Kathy will speak for 35 minutes and leave 10 minutes at the end for Q&A. \nMeet the speaker: Kathy Wang is currently a product designer at Snorkel AI. She’s previously worked at Dropbox and IBM\, and received her master’s in Information Science from Cornell University. Kathy is based in San Francisco. \nKey takeaways: \n\nGain insights into what it’s like to work at a large company (like IBM) versus a smaller company like Dropbox) versus a really small startup (like Doss).\nLearn how to write a cold email that will catch the recruiter’s attention and guarantee you an interview with your dream company. (Most people don’t know how to write a good cold email. I will teach you.)\nUnderstand how to usability test your portfolio. (You need to treat your portfolio like a product\, which means that you have to get feedback from others.)\nGet advice on how to navigate this competitive job market (i.e. how to get LinkedIn Premium for free\, which conferences to attend\, how to make sure you’re using timing to your advantage\, etc.).\n\nThis session will be worth your while if you’re trying to get a job in product design!
